Hope Like Hannah

Psalm 121:1-2

“I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

The hand-stamped dove in the center of the ‘Hope Like Hannah’ Bracelet symbolizes the Holy Spirit – our comforter and hope. The blue stones represent the peace that comes when he turn our eyes to Him.

Hannah was a woman that placed all of her hope in the Lord. In desperation she cried out to the Lord, and it wasn’t a pretty scene! In fact, she was so distraught that she was accused of being drunk; she wept inconsolably. She came broken before the Lord, and in her suffering He sat down next to her.

Did you know that the Lord is attracted to our need? The most beautiful prayer that we can lift to the Lord is a pure prayer; a prayer where the words of our lips match the thoughts of our heart. Don’t pray what you think you should think. Pray what is actually in the depths of your heart. Cry out to God.

There are times when I have come to God struggling to think the right thoughts. Maybe there is some hurt, resentment in my heart, or jealously. Maybe I’m struggling to really love or forgive someone. Maybe in my honesty, I really don’t like them at all! I tell the Lord that.

When I cry out to the Lord in intercession, and I don’t get up until I reach the place where I know I’ve touched the hem of His garment, without fail he changes my thoughts to match His thoughts and he renews my mind. Romans 12:2 … “be transformed, by the renewing of your mind”! By the end of that type of prayer, I’m rejoicing in Jesus. My problems may still be present, but they aren’t quite as heavy because I have found my hope in Him.

Hannah got up knowing that God heard her. She could trust in His ways and His promises. His JOY became her strength.

Pray honest prayers. You’ll know you’ve reached up and touched Him, once you’re no longer looking at your problems but at Jesus who is a very present help in time of need! He is your hope, your strength, your deliverer, the altogether lovely one – the one my soul loves.
